According to the Sydney Morning Herald report, Josh Hazlewood is unlikely to play the Test match against Sri Lanka. The selectors may soon take a final decision on this.
Australia Cricket does not want to take any risk regarding his fitness at this time. In the future, Australia has to play the Champions Trophy, World Test Championship (WTC) Final and Ashes series. In such a situation, Cricket Australia wants to keep him fit for these matches.
Australia’s regular captain Pat Cummins is out even before the Sri Lanka tour. Due to paternity leave, he will not be a part of this tour.
In such a situation, Australia’s fast bowling attack has become very weak. In the absence of Cummins and Hazelwood, more responsibility has come on Starc and Nathan Lyon. At the same time, in the absence of Cummins, Steve Smith can get the command of the team. He is also the vice-captain of the team at present.

Sri Lankan pitch usually helps spinners. Due to which there will be a lot of responsibility on Nathan Lyon, who bowled 64 overs during Australia’s last test in Galle three years ago.
